The return of Black, White, Brown, and Beige as
stand alone colors without the impact colors of
yellow, red, orange, teal, lime, and purple
Minimal design using mostly black, white, and earth tones.. Usually boring to me, I find these amazing, perfect design choices, and perfect implementation of placement of key objects. I tip my hat to the designer
I have been looking for articles on the earth toned browns, blacks, whites since I have noticed a lot more being done with these two colors. And believe me from someone that prefers color over everythig I have to admit some of these designs have impressed me. They are absolutely stuning and actually take the best from both colors and bring them together also using a lot of very slick shinny surfaces unlike the blacks and white designs where everything was matte. Maybe that was the issue I had all along. They were so dreary and sad. The ones I am seeing now are glossy finishes, high use of glass, and polished concrete or other materials counter top. These kitchens, bathrooms, and even living rooms and bedrooms, no longer look dark and scary but bright and inviting. Here are some more examples of living rooms done in these two previously thought of by me as simply not acceptable.
The following pictures are all completely impact color free, or any color besides the black, white, browns, and beige. I use to hate these dreary colors and until now I would have never believed in doing entire rooms using them without even an accent color rug to being life into those same rooms. But after looking at he following pictures, which I find amazing I now know these colors can make it fine on their own.. In these cases the need for bright impact colors are simply not needed (ok someone shoot me)
