A Cool Suspended Cabinet for those unreachable corners...
Look at this cabinet. I  found this inspiring idea that could solve some of your storage problems. This suspended corner cabinet could easily fit in any apartment, has a really interesting shape and a lot of available space. Some of the items can be hidden behind the doors and others could be placed on top of it. Something like this could also be used in the entrance hall for clothing and footwear. When placed in the living-room or bedroom, the shelving system can be customized in order to best fit the storage needs. The possibilities are endless: you could use it as a bookcase, a normal cabinet or a locker. What we like most about it is the fact that it is suspended, which brings a plus of originality to the room.

All about Kitchens

All about Kitchens..

I have been on vacation for about two weeks and now I am back. Today I am writing and sharing with all ogf you secrets on how to create the perfect Kitchen. A very important room and in the minimal style of design, very complicated since iyt has to be minimal, modern, and very practical, and as we know the minimal style of design is sometimes not very practical..

Enjoy the pics and post..

Concealed Appliance are Always “In”

The kitchen has seen some major changes in style over the past few years. Appliances are getting bigger, stainless steel has become a centerpiece of fashion, and unique materials like granite are making waves. However, concealed appliances don’t get nearly as much attention as they should.
Concealed appliances can make a kitchen feel like any other room of the house. By hiding your refrigerator, oven and other appliances, you can transform a “kitchen” into an all-purpose room that is open and inviting.

Appliances signal a room that’s off-limits to guests. It’s a room that is only used for cooking, and should be kept that way. But you won’t have that walled-off feeling if you conceal your appliances in cabinets and the walls.

It’s quite easy to conceal your appliances, especially if you’re in the process of renovating. They are all already up against a wall, so it’s only a matter of either building a cabinet around them or moving them into a nook or corner. Just be sure that you make them accessible, but invisible.
Concealed appliances can also save space. By encasing your dishwasher in a kitchen counter, for instance, you can use it as a chopping board or surface space when it’s not in use (and even when it is!).

Concealed appliances can make your kitchen appear more inviting, and they even go so far as to equip it as a dining room, if you have a large enough space. You can bring in a table and chairs, and eat right in the kitchen without feeling like it’s the kitchen at all.

Breathtaking Backsplashes

The backsplash is an often overlooked area of the the kitchen. It is certainly a functional item, protecting the back wall from splashes. However, it adds a splash of style as well as it usually stands out from the rest of your kitchen walls. If you’re looking to get creative with your kitchen, take a good hard look at your backsplash and see if you can’t spice it up.

One option that is becoming increasingly popular is continuing the counter material up the wall to create the backsplash. This maintains a cohesive pattern, design, and texture, and it can make a statement, especially if you counter material is unique like granite or funky tiling.

And backsplashes don’t have to be one solid material the whole way around your kitchen. You can play with changing the material based on the location, such as darkening the color behind the stove and sink, or by running the countertop up from the counter but choosing a completely different style for other areas of the kitchen.

There are a variety of materials you can choose from when creating your perfect backsplash, and they each have their own style personality. For instance, tile can be plain or pack a powerful punch if you choose an interesting pattern or color combination. You can go laminate, black glass, or ceramic. And then there are the more daring options, like bamboo or other woods, and even metal backsplashes.
This is one style detail that you don’t want to overlook when re-decorating your kitchen!

Hightower – Gallery Stool

Smooth, artful seating. It’s clear that the Hightower Gallery Stools are inspired by high-end art gallery seating. They are minimalist in spirit, with their back-less, scooped form. You can sit on one of these stools for hours as you chat, eat or even watch a movie in your own home, and you’ll have the feeling that you’re witnessing a great masterpiece. They are crafted from sustainable wood and feature an innovative design that allows several to be joined together to create a unified bench. As an accent stool or as the central seating in your home, the Hightower Gallery Stool will always be in the spotlight. The Hightower – Gallery Stool is available at for $650.00 – $830.00.

Elegant crystals, fractal light and the epitome of sophistication are the three design concepts that fuse together in this Cellula Chandelier. This chandelier is at home above a posh dining table, a bar, or in a commercial setting. It features a row of Swarovski crystals that hang delicately amid the subtle torpedo bulbs. The light from these bulbs is reflected off of the precision-cut crystals and sent out in a warm glow over the surrounding area, imbuing it with a romantic and understated mood. This chandelier is customizable, allowing you to adjust the placement of each individual crystal pendant by slotting them into the grooves on the aluminum hanging bar that holds this conceptual chandelier together. You can purchase the Cellula Chandelier for $2,100.00 ($2,600.00 regular price) from

Bombo Stool

Straight from Italy, the quality of material and design in these stools is unmatched. The rainbow of available colors lets you create a kaleidoscope design or a more muted and sophisticated look. You can purchase one of these classic art stools from Plush Pod for $742.00 to $1372.00, depending on the color choice.

Could you use a new range hood?

In most homes, a range hood is there to keep grease from accumulating on walls, paint from peeling and odors from taking over in a kitchen. However, a stylish range hood can completely transform the look of your kitchen and even become a focal point!

The first thing that you need to decide is if you prefer a range that fits under a cabinet or one that is wall mounted. You also need to determine if your range will exhaust pollutants outside or if you’re going to buy a recirculating one.

Some range hoods have dishwasher-safe filters which is rather convenient. You may also want to consider if you want one that is completely smooth or if you won’t mind getting a toothbrush out to scrub any grooves.

Would a remote control be handy or do you want one that turn on by itself when the heat sensors tell it to? You should also evaluate the lighting. A well lit cooking area allows you to really get a good look at the food you’re preparing.

Noise Level

If you find one on sale but the noise level is a little obnoxious, keep shopping. A great deal isn’t so spectacular when the volume on the television in the next room has to be turned up or if your guests have to talk over the noise. A range should never become a distraction!

There you have it.. some of the things to make your kitchen shine..

Tangerine Tango...

Tangerine Tango..

2012 is the year of Tangerine Tango, a color that is all the craze at the moment, one that is bright, vibrant and very popular in home decor. As a tribute we at Avant-Garde will be creating an entire category of products devoted exclusively to this color. This idea was Edward Saunder's and I had nothing to do with it and I have to admit it WAS A GREAT IDEA ON HIS PART.. Please stay tuned and as of Monday you will see Avant-Garde's Tangerine Tango category...

Following is a tid-bit my partner and Avant-Garde's creative director sent me on Tangerine Tango..

Enjoy the pics and post..

While researching this color of the year, I discovered it's apparently a rather big deal in fashion and home decor. I know you're busy, so if you can point me towards where to look, I'll be happy to search for products in this color. I think it would be a good idea to add some products in Tangerine and feature the color..

I made a Tangerine Tango banner, and put together a couple of paragraphs about it if you want to add it to the site.

Every year since 1963, the Pantone Color Institute has selected a color of the year, the one color expected over the next twelve months to have the strongest impact on fashion and home décor. Each year, this global color authority sets standards for housing and other industries with their announcement of that year’s color. For 2012, the color of the year is Tangerine Tango, and it has already made headlines by showing up in retail stores and runway shows earlier this year. After exploding onto the scene with the Spring fashion shows, in the collections of Tommy Hilfiger, Nanette Lepore and Adrienne Vittadini among others, designers from every industry have been rushing to be on trend and include this year’s hot new color in all their designs.

Reflecting society’s struggles during difficult times, the 2011 color of the year, Honeysuckle, was chosen to encourage us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor. As we begin to see the promise of better times ahead, this year’s selection of the vibrant and spirited Tangerine Tango is meant to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward. According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, “Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it. Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

We at Avant-Garde agree that Tangerine Tango is not only a stunning color, but is also the perfect choice to energize us during 2012 as we look forward to a bright, positive future, and we applaud the Pantone Color Institute for their bold selection. Whether you’re painting an accent wall, or adding a lamp, vase or artwork to a room, this exciting color brings vitality and life to any room in your modern home. Over the next few months, as they become available, we will be adding more products in this radiant color to our store, so visit often and keep a lookout for Tangerine Tango, the 2012 color of the year, at AG Home Goods.

The apartment was stripped back to concrete shell and the spaces were redesigned to suit the tight dimension between core and window wall whilst at the same time to maximise the sense of space. This is  Darling Point  Modern Apartment by Stanic Harding. Stanic Harding architect’s desire was to alter the space to maximise this potential. This was done by reconfiguring the apartment to allow for a continuous path through all the spaces. The apartment space was stripped back to bare shell and redesigned to celebrate the potential of an unhindered circular journey. The ceiling treatment in the public spaces is designed to enhance this circular sense by installing thin, flush fitting fluorescent strips radiating out to the perimeter. This provides for a stronger and cleaner ceiling plane that is contributing to the quality of the space.

The idea was to allow space to ooze out to the perimeter while keeping the core unencumbered. A series of sliding doors along the journey pull away from the core into the radiating walls that define the individual spaces. They were very conscious of the space between the ends of these radiating walls and the core as this formed an essential part of the experience. These spaces were curved and splayed to counter the beautiful walnut lining of the core. Connecting all these spaces within a circular plan allowed for a wonderful series of vistas out to the city skyline, harbour and the tree canopies of Darling Point.

Workspace Design Tips

Workspace Design in a Comfortable Home for the Workaholic

Claims and higher workloads, make us to be quick and responsive follow the development of the world. This often makes the time available in the office felt more narrow and less so it takes extra time to complete the job. To overcome these problems, need to be handled aroom in the house to meet the needs to handle and resolve work problems. It takes an extra space that makes us feel calm, orderly, and comfortable in order to finish the job. “There are many ways you can do to make the work space in the house. We can choose between several alternatives to accommodate the need for work space. To obtain a high level of privacy, you should use a permanent wall and away from space that are active and full of activities, such as family room or kids playroom. Better yet, if we can put on the second floor, close to the bedroom or den and library. For furniture we can choose only to use a table when combined with other rooms. Or we can simply use floating tables that are embedded in the wall so the room can still feel spacious and airy. If the room is still possible, we can add the credenza as a place of supporting equipment such as printers and fax machines.

If there is still another space, then we can put a cabinet or shelf to store books supporting the work. In addition, we can equip it with a single sofa to a comfortable reading room and useful if we want to relax a little bit after working hard. Other supporting equipment, can we put the music player to feel more relaxed while working. Also can we put an aquarium for ornamental fish as well as landscape painting or other images that could cause the relaxed atmosphere. “To be more comfortable, we can put photos with family members as well as recording a very impressive trip for us,” said Vishnu. As a material, can be used as a wood parquet floor  to get warm atmosphere of the room. Can also use marble or granite material in order to get the impression of luxury and elegance. If not possible, we use a new ceramic floor. As a wall covering material, we can use the wallpaper, painted walls, wood panels as a backdrop desks and cabinets and a built in wooden cabinets to maximize space utilization. Color painting one wall with different materials also may be used to avoid the impression of monotonous and boring.

As the material covering the ceiling or ceiling, you can use the drop ceiling as well as the use of indirect lighting that we could experience a more dramatic shades. The use of a reading lamp attached to a table or standing lamp would be more useful. Similarly, we can use a downlight so much better. For color selection room, should be tailored to the theme of the room that we want to make. “If a minimalist, you should use monochrome colors, either white or grayish, and can be combined with one additional colors like brown, red, or another color that must be combined with the contents of the room,” saranWisnu. For the classic theme, can use the primary colors like red, orange, or yellow. White can also be used if we lacked the courage to experiment with color. To color the ceiling, you should use the color white for the room feel spacious and airy. If the things above can not be done, then we are forced to make a room unified between the den, reading room and library.

Design for Your Workspace With a Narrow Place

This Design of Workspace is simple but modern. Organizing work space in a dwelling capable of supporting the profession of its inhabitants. When you need to work in the house high enough, it helps us prepare a special private room to work. However, if there is limited land and conditions that do not allow any room of their own work, we can combine the two function spaces.
Another important side note in arranging work space is a touch of color to be made separately. This is to reduce boredom and feeling not in the mood for work. However, to select the color depends on the character of each individual. If color choice is not in accordance with the character of the wearer may affect performance.
In selecting the type of lighting, usually must be tailored to the profession of each occupant. If it is for architects and fashion designers have full use of lighting. Meanwhile, when artists tend to use the colors are more warm.
