All about Curtains....

All about Curtains....

Today I am sharing with all of you the secrets to getting the right curtains for your home.. I have many tips and secrets that are sure to make your modern home shine and stick out among the many..

Enjoy the pics and post...

Emphasize the windows..

Even if you have blinds on your windows, there are still things that you can do to decorate the area. Why have a perfectly garnished room and then fall short on window treatments? Your windows welcome in sunlight, fresh air and energy so they should be emphasized, not hidden!
Panels Can be Fun
Traditional panel curtains certainly don’t have to be boring. You can always pull them to one side with tiebacks that are elegant or patterned and vibrant, whatever works for your room! Alternatively, you can buy a stencil and fabric paint and add a little personalization to them.
Framing the Window
Just because you go for the classic, framed look, doesn’t mean you can’t add an extra rod or two and layer up your treatments with different prints and fabrics.
Work With Blinds
Side panels, swags and even just extra long sheer tiers can be draped loosely to highlight the area. Also, keep in mind if you buy new blinds, there are many made from pretty attractive materials today so they don’t have to be ordinary.
Let the Fabric Flow
There are no rules when you work with fabric. Layer or twist pieces and let them just coexist harmoniously. Shake off that rigid structure you have grown up with and invite something fresh and carefree into your space!

Selecting the right Fabrics...

Curtains can make or break a room. They line the walls and can be as stunning as a modern piece of art or as dull as a rusty nail. There are many factors that go into choosing the right curtains for your home, including price, length, the rod and rail system, and fabric. Today we’ll give you the low-down on some of the most common modern curtain fabrics, so you can choose which one is right for you.
Cotton
Cotton is not usually used as a solo fabric in curtains – it is normally mixed with other materials such as silk, synthetics, and wool. When cotton is combined with linen, for example, it creates a beautiful chambray fabric that is lightweight, sheer, and has a frosty sheen. Organdy, bastiste, and damask are common types of cotton or cotton blends used in curtains.
Silk
Silk is a gorgeous material to work with, as it has a reflective surface that appears to radiate in many colors. Silk is woven alone or with other fabrics to produce everything from a solid color curtain to a translucent, wispy gauze. Moiré, voile, pongee and satin are common types of silky fabrics used in curtains.
Lace
Lace can be made with almost any fabric, as the weaving pattern is what makes it unique. A lacy curtain is often made of lightweight material like cotton and features intricate cut-out patterns in the weaving.
These fabrics and other can be cut to different lengths, dyed different colors, and feature different patterns based on your preferences.

Modern Shelves...

Shelves offer unlimited customization. They are really a blank canvass for modern interiors, as their surfaces can be covered with any number of items. Of course, you incorporate a shelf for its functionality: to hold books, Blu-Rays and baskets of knickknacks. But there is the other side of the shelf too – its stylish side. Here are some items that you can use to dress up your modern shelf.
Why not try adding a simple vase with flowers? If you can’t get a fresh bunch every week, go for the dried variety – in the fall, you can choose orange flowers accented by earthy sticks and cattail, while your spring arrangement can feature bright pinks and greens.
If you’re looking to fill up a smaller shelf that couldn’t hold a usually tall vase, you can visit your local craft store and pick up some decorative balls. Dusted in silver or gold leaf, these various-sized balls can be used for functionality as bookends, or just for style placed strategically on a few shelves.
Decorative plates are another way to go, if you have some you’d like to show off. You don’t have to have a china cabinet to display your china. Simply purchase a plate stand and position the plate facing outwards on a central shelf to minimize the possibility of it getting knocked down.
And finally, candles are always a tasteful, beautiful way to add style to a shelf. You can add tall votive candles along the top of the shelf. Just be sure that there is plenty of ventilation and space above the candle so that there is no risk of fire, and you’ve got yourself a stunning, simple accent piece for your modern shelf.
How do you dress up your shelves?
