About Alexander Calzadilla

Alexander Calzadilla is a Cuban male originally from Philadelphia, who has happily called Miami his home since moving here at the age of 15. He attended Southwest Sr. High School and Florida International University, ultimately receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. While in college, he began working as a paralegal for the Law Offices of Jeffrey E. Reichenbacher, a position he kept for seven years after graduation. He subsequently worked at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius Associates before landing at Costa Nursery. After distinguishing himself with many accomplishments, he was promoted to the position of Director of Specialty Products, which included the orchid, bonsai and lucky bamboo departments. When Alex was first put in charge of the three departments, they ranked near the bottom. By the time he left Costa after seven years, Alex had transformed the floundering departments into unqualified successes, posting record earnings, sales and profitability. In 2008 Alex was named the Costa Employee of the Year. Alex now puts his formidable prowess as a businessman into his newest venture, Avant-Garde Home Furnishings, LLC, serving as Managing Partner.

Open Kitchen Design by Lando - Ethos

Ethos, a kitchen by Lando, was made to go along with our modern lifestyles by promoting an open kitchen design concept. Open plan living is not declining in popularity and more and more people look for this kind of freeing, adaptable layout in interior spaces. Often, it's the kitchen, dining room and living room that people want to combine into an open space. The Ethos kitchen is a perfect solution. With freestanding cabinets and a multifunctional island, this kitchen accommodates cooking, eating and gathering, all in one place. It's available in a Walnut or Larch finish. Go to Lando for more information.

Recycled Teak Wood Furniture by Karpenter - Roadie

We love the Roadie collection of recycled teak wood furniture by Karpenter. Karpenter is about innovation, while considering the environment and respecting what is classic, and they do a great job. Roadie furniture is rustic, industrial and modern, which makes for really special pieces that feel vintage. The collection is characterized by providing unique storage solutions, like chests and shelf units, and they're all on wheels so you can easily move them around as you please. I guess we could say they're perfectly equipped to follow you around, whatever 'road' you take. Stop by Karpenter for more information.

Electronic Shower System by Graff - Aqua Sense

Quite possibly the future of shower design, Graff introduces Aqua Sense, an electronic shower system. Graff makes use of innovative technologies in order to offer a spa-like luxury, while remaining sustainable. So what makes up the system? Here's a little list: ceiling mounted shower heads, RGB lighting effect, speakers, touch-screen control panel, a waterfall shower, a wall-mounted cascade and rainfall showerhead and a wall-mounted cascade and rainfall with RGB LED shower head. While showering with Aqua Sense, all your senses are involved (well, minus taste, of course) for a really unique, and all encompassing experience. It takes the act of showering to a whole new level. Metal Pendant Lights by Fabbian

Have you seen these Bijou metal pendant lights by Fabbian? They're just so modern and beautiful, sleek and strong. Available in three finishes, glossy white, black or polished chromium plated, their minimal appeal make these metal pendants true gems for any modern lighting scheme. In fact, the French word Bijou actually means jewel. So there you go, these pendants are like jewelry for interior spaces, the finishing touch that can tie it all together - especially since these have such a nice essence about them. For more details, go to Fabbian.

Cool Hanging Chair made of Volcanic Rock by Maffam Freeform

Not only is the Manu Nest by Maffam Freeform cool because it's a hanging chair, but it's also really cool because it's made of volcanic rock! Yup. The material is called Basalt, a magmatic rock that renews itself very quickly through volcanic activity. It's practically a limitless resource, which is why it's a good material - a sustainable alternative for making furniture. Maffam Freeform uses Basalt fibers combined with ecoresin to create extremely lightweight and highly durable furniture pieces appropriate for interiors and exteriors - like the Manu Nest hanging chair here. What better place can you think of to hang out in? The design and texture of the material gives this chair a striking visual appeal and a somewhat elegant vibe. If you like the dramatic look of this piece, you may enjoy the rest of their unique garden furniture. Visit Maffam Freeform for more information.

Gorgeous Yellow Bathroom Vanity by Cerasa

This gorgeous, yellow bathroom vanity is part of Cerasa's 2011 collection - Suede. Inspired by modern architecture, the vanity displays a characteristic slant, and its yellow color makes quite an impact. There are six washbasin possibilities and all are nice and deep, finished with a chrome faucet - keeping in tone with the modern vibe. The vanity itself, serves as a storage unit, keeping everything under the sink stowed away cleanly and discretely with hardware-less doors and drawers. Oh, and did we mention we love the color? Visit Cerasa to learn more.
